College Applications / Essays
As a writing coach and college essay consultant, Michelle acts as an architect, speaking to high school seniors about their passions, unique qualities, and insights into their life experiences. She asks carefully crafted questions, ranging from serious to silly, in order to get to know the student quickly and deeply. Michelle understands that the college application and essay(s) must showcase the student as the “star of the show” to maximize their chances of getting into their JUST RIGHT school.
Michelle listens to students carefully and helps them figure out their response to particular themes and ideas before choosing an essay prompt. By asking students to reflect on how they have grown, changed, and developed, students figure out their own responses and write in their own words. This is especially important in college essays, where admissions officials want to hear the voice of the student, not that of a parent or counselor.
Hiring Michelle allows students to have devoted time to work on their college applications and essays; therefore, they don’t have to worry about when and how the college application or essay work is getting done.

Common Application
Filling out the Common Application essay can be overwhelming for families, as this is the application that every school sees. Using a shared screen, students can work directly with Michelle to write out each section carefully, proofread it, and then cut and paste the words into the application.

Common Application Essay
Hiring an experienced essay coach to help with college applications is most effective when the person already knows your scholar—how they think, what motivates them, and how they express themselves. With Michelle’s guidance, the college application process becomes less stressful and more empowering—an opportunity for students to showcase their best selves with confidence.

Supplemental Essays
Using a “work smart not hard” mentality, students choose ideas not used for the Common Application essay to craft unique and honest responses to college-specific questions. Michelle guides students to complete deep research for why they want to attend a particular school or why they chose their area of study.
