What a College Admissions Officer Said…
I was looking at your essay and wanted to share that I really enjoyed it! I loved the creativity, humor, and glimpse into your family life. Thank you for sharing your story.

What Parents Say…
Both my children had ambitious reach schools in mind for college and I wanted to support their goals. I knew that helping them manage this competitive undertaking was more than I could handle effectively. This is when I reached out to Michelle, knowing her for many years and the competent, compassionate person she is.
For my firstborn, I hired Michelle to help him with his Common App essay and no less than 20 supplemental essays for his colleges of choice. She kept him on track and accountable for the many deadlines during that time. She helped him focus and prompted him in all the right ways. The work was his, and she was his facilitator. Ultimately, my son received a full tuition scholarship from the University of Miami where he now attends and I know Michelle was a part of this success.
When it came time for my daughter to apply to college, I already knew I was going to hire Michelle again. My daughter had her heart set on attending Wake Forest University. Again, Michelle’s attention to detail and how she inspired my daughter to do her best work on the essays helped in my daughter’s success, when she was accepted to Wake Forest where she will be attending.
I wholeheartedly recommend Michelle’s help for college essay help. You do not have to question if she can do a good job, she will do a great job. Both of my children liked her personality and flair and she inspired them to do their best work and on time.
–University of Miami and Wake Forest (Early Decision) parent, high school classes of 2019 and 2021.
When it came time for my daughter to write her college essay, she felt lost, overwhelmed, stressed and anxious. Questions like which topic would make her stand out the most to admissions counselors, does everyone write about this topic, is this topic too risky? All of this I know was causing a lot of stress on my daughter and our relationship. Hiring Michelle took the stress off my shoulders as a mom and I was able to be there for support rather than nagging and critiquing.
Michelle was able to help narrow down topic choices with writing exercises that were easy for my daughter to do. Her “homework” allowed my daughter to focus on what really mattered in telling “her story.” In the end, the final product was not something we had discussed at all before Michelle, but reflected who my daughter is and her morals and values, which would eventually lead admissions counselors to accepting her into almost all the schools she applied to, and almost all offered her merit scholarships ranging from $24,000-$85,000. My daughter will be attending University of South Florida as a Chemistry/Biochemistry major.
I highly recommend using Michelle for college essays…for the students who have difficulty picking a topic, or writing in a way that shows their best side, as well as saving a parent/child relationship during an extremely stressful time.
–University of South Florida parent, high school class of 2021
My son got into every school he applied to and your help was tremendous!!!
— University of Rhode Island parent, high school class of 2020
We got My daughter’s scores this morning. She went from a 560 in Reading to a 650! Thank you so much. Writing went up too! We are thrilled with her scores! I will be in touch about college essay.
–Monroe-Woodbury parent, class of 2016
Honestly, Michelle was perfect for my daughter. She pushed her where I couldn’t, and gave her encouragement when mine didn’t matter. The college essay was key. And while my daughter may have dragged her feet…all of her applications were done and submitted early and in time for early action. I think kids wait too long and don’t concentrate it on it early enough, then when the time comes, everyone is scrambling around. We came to Michelle Sale via word of mouth, and continue to pass your name on to others.
– Parent of Monroe-Woodbury, class of 2013
Thank you for your help with my son’s college essay. I am convinced that the essay made a significant difference in his acceptances into college. He got into every school he applied to, and decided to go to Cortland State University.
– Monroe-Woodbury parent, 2013
Through your services, my daughter’s SAT scores went from the 1300’s to the 1500’s. Once scheduling was arranged, it was smooth sailing. She got into 8 of the nine schools she applied to, including her first choice!
— Monroe-Woodbury parent, class of 2013
My daughter will be attending her first choice for college this fall. She was also accepted to…[list of schools]. I will hire you in a year or so for my younger child.
– Monroe-Woodbury parent, class of 2012
I am so very happy to report that my son was accepted into all 16 schools he applied to. I will certainly pass your flyer on to my friends.
– Monroe-Woodbury parent, class of 2011
I just got off the phone with my daughter’s college admission counselor, and when she heard who I was, she knew the name right away. She said my daughter’s college essay is THE best one she’s ever read. It’s now on top of her favorite list. Just another well-deserved thank you!! I wanted you to know how much we appreciate your help. Michelle definitely gave her the edge we needed. So far, two acceptances with Honors!! Waiting to hear from everyone else!!

As a result of my daughter’s work with Mrs. Sale, her writing skills have flourished beyond her imagination. She is now able to write creatively as well as factually with ease and confidence. In addition, my daughter saw a significant increase in her verbal SAT score. Mrs. Sale has such a wonderful demeanor with young adults. She is patient, kind, and humorous, while at the same time holds her students accountable and encourages their development.
– Monroe-Woodbury, class of 2011
My daughter’s SAT grades are in and she scored 590 on the Critical Reading section, up from 440 last time. We are THRILLED!!! She is still taking the test in November but the pressure is hopefully off. Again, I want to thank you SO much for all your help! It clearly made a huge difference.
– Monroe-Woodbury parent, class of 2011
My daughter enjoyed working with you very much and I liked the way you helped her bring her ideas forth and get them down on paper. She did extremely well getting into every college she applied to except being wait listed at one. She has decided to go to Geneseo and we are very proud. Thanks again for all your expertise and professionalism.”
– Clarkstown High School North parent, class of 2010
We are very pleased that our son was accepted to almost all the schools he applied to and we are thrilled that he will be attending SUNY Binghamton in September. We could not be happier. We believe we owe it in no small part to the essay Ms. Sale helped Jonathan to write. He is a very bright kid with great ideas. I hired Ms. Sale to help Jonathan because I thought he needed some help in “tightening” his thoughts to produce a competitive essay. I could not help him because I do not know what colleges look for in their essay… but we all know they do look at them!
I strongly recommend that other parents consider this [College Application Essay Bootcamp] program for their college-bound students. We certainly got our money’s worth!
– Monroe-Woodbury parent, class of 2009
My son had shown his essay to his English teacher, and the college and career advisor at Middletown HS and both thought it was a well written essay. Overall, he was very pleased with the ‘bootcamp’ and would recommend it. He felt it was better to have the block of time in order to be able to focus solely on the task, and to have you both there for assistance and immediate feedback. He loved the fact that when the time came to begin the application process, the essay was something he did not have to worry about doing!
– Middletown High School parent, class of 2009
Ms. Sale was very patient and effective with my son. She taught him how to pay closer attention to what he was writing. He was one of only two seniors who got 100% on his English test for his summer reading project.
– John S. Burke Catholic High School parent, class of 2009
Michelle established an excellent rapport with her students, and provided a personalized approach in order to individualize writing needs…she worked with the students using her expertise, capitalizing on their strengths and fine tuning the areas that required attention. The results were wonderful, as our son was extremely successful on the reading and writing components of the ACT exam, as well as being prepared for the rigors of college writing.

What Students Say…
I am going to the University of Pittsburgh and I am very happy with the work we did together you really helped me put my thoughts and passions on paper.
–John S. Burke Catholic High School, class of 2020
Michelle patiently worked with me to improve my SAT and ACT scores. After learning more about how I learn, we decided to focus on improving my reading skills. Her tricks worked! I only took the ACT again, and I did much better. I am also doing better in English!
–Monroe-Woodbury, class of 2016
I started to work with Michelle in the fall of 2011. I initially came to her for SAT practice. Michelle really prepped me for the SATs by giving me tips and tricks to get more questions correct, and I felt very knowledgeable of the test after my time with her. In addition, the summer before my senior year, I joined Michelle’s workshop to work on my college application essay. I am really glad I joined her class since I got the essay out of the way and I was able to devote all my focus and time to it. With Michelle’s help, I am extremely satisfied with my essay. Also, Michelle helped me with essay writing for my English class in school. In fact, one essay was entered into a competition–and I won!
– Chester Academy, class of 2013
I wanted to thank you. I appreciate what you did so much. I’ve finally done something without procrastinating!
– Monroe-Woodbury High School, class of 2013
Thank you so much for all your help! The experience was great; it streamlined the writing process and was a great environment for brainstorming, I highly recommend it. Taking the course over the summer provides an advantage as well as a sense of relief that you don’t need to worry about school work and college essays simultaneously.
– Monroe-Woodbury High School, class of 2011
I was extremely satisfied with the College Application Essay workshop. I applied to eight schools, including Binghamton, James Madison, Penn State, and UMass (Amherst). I was admitted to every school except Binghamton, where I was weight listed. I really believe that I got into the majority of these schools because of my [unique] essay. Thank you so much for your help and I will definitely recommend you.
– Suffern High School, class of 2011
Just being at a desk with no distractions was very helpful for me, and writing multiple essay topics is good so students are able to switch between ideas.
– Monroe-Woodbury High School, class of 2011
The feedback that was given to me regarding each essay proved to be a valuable asset when I was writing supplements later on in the year. The Write People gave me an accurate, and almost fool-proof way to develop college essays into more than just an essay; the essays I wrote truly captured my inner voice that was not on the paper before.
– Warwick Valley High School, class of 2009
Michelle’s college application essay seminar was amazing. I have recommended it to many people.
– Monroe-Woodbury High School, class of 2009
I learned so much from Michelle. I actually enjoyed the Bootcamp. My mom couldn’t believe I was the first one there in the morning, because classes were at nine o’clock. At first, I really, really wanted to go to the University of Delaware, but then my essay turned out so good that I applied to Maryland—and got in!
– Monroe-Woodbury High School, class of 2009
Going into the application process, I looked at my essay questions with disbelief, confusion and stress–I could not understand how they could possibly get done not only on time, but well. My mom told me she had scheduled an appointment with a woman who helps out applicants, and I was a bit hesitant at first. When we first saw her, I knew it was going to be good–she was friendly and cheery, but “laid down the law” when I needed it. I don’t know what I would have done without her help!
